I got the CPO email today for both my wife and I.

Sent email to followup address on 8/6 (no response yet), sent again to scopsscata address on 8/13
Asked my congressman to inquire on 8/12
Opened SR on 8/13
Got CPO email on 8/16 (Happy Independence Day!!! Well I am sure they wanted to present this gift on 8/15, but what could they do, it was a Sunday!)
Hope and pray that the rest of the people waiting get their approvals soon!

This is my first H1-B visa. I was in USA on an F-1 before that. To be honest, I was thinking that it'd take about 7-8 weeks for this matter to solve as I was also told numerous times when I talked over the phone with Delhi consulate people. Saw this forum yesterday, and had no idea that the system in US would be this ridiculous. And no they didn't tell me it was TAL, they only said "administrative processing" and gave me a pink slip. I did call the National Visa Center in USA yesterday, but my prepaid phone died before I could get any relevant information. Will call them again soon and will post here about it. So during this whole time, I was only calling Delhi consulate and checking status online at Delhi consulate's website. Now when I read all these posts about delays here, I am a little afraid now. One my friend in US told me to talk to my boss (in US) and have him call local senator/congressman write a letter to DOS. Has anyone ever heard of such thing or done anything like this? Is is a good idea?
This is what I did -

Many folks on this forum are so excited that consulting companies are going to be affected by this bill. Many FTEs think they are safe and consulting companies going out of business will help them get their GCs faster. Wait and watch, such bills typically affects direct hiring companies more than consulting companies in the end.
Remember who is proposing these bills. Durbin and gang. Do you think they are trying to liberate the employees from the clutches of "bad" employers. I don't think so.
Many IV members has started seeing this anti-H1B bill as CIR 2009.

After so many countries who receive major immigrant influx like UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand have implemented a points based system why on earth lawmakers here don't wake-up. In a post-crisis world if US does not regain the old economic supremacy we'll see expatriate population redirecting itself.
It's already happening with Canada's AINP program. If some of the anti-immigrant comments are to be believed Canadians must be darn fools :D

1-2 weeks if u r unlucky, 1-2 months if u r extremely unlucky, 2+ months if u r as unlucky as me !!

On FEb 4th my wife and myself went for H1-B visa renewal interview at Chennai Consulate. Both visas got approved. My wife passport was returned with in 3 days. It seems they have found her petitition online. My passport stuck with consulate. I called consulate today, and they have asked me to call back next week end. She said they were not able to locate my petition online.
How long it can take? 1 week or 2 weeks or 1 month? Please provide your experiences for those passports took more than 3 days. I have seen max 1 month in the forum.

Travelling via London Gatwick and Dubai to India and back. No airport change required during transit. Using AP, visa expired. I have a valid Canada PR card.
According to UK embassy US GC and Canada PR card holders do not need transit for direct airside transit. Does anyone have any experience in this situation? Please post.

Just think, if you use a lawyer you might have to spend another 500 to 1500 bucks. But you will have a no problems in filing (especially with out errors).
We have spent thousands of dollars so far in getting a GC and at this stage dont mess up to save a few paltry bucks.
You may be finding that your lawyers are'nt approachable a this time. But this is the case with everyone, as they are getting hundreds of calls.
Get a lawyer, fill the application and leave blank and stick notes at which ever field you didnt understand. The lawyers will definitely look into the applications and file it quickly. make sure you tell your lawyer to use the overnight courier to file and bill you the same.

I contacted 20 congressmen/women (made my way down the list posted on page 7 of this thread .. kept my message brief, ~1 min, based on the paragraph provided by one of the posters on page 9).

Lets say DOS revises bulletin on july 2, does that mean applications recieved on july 2 are accepted and all applications recieved after 2 will be rejected or will USCIS reject all applications recieved on july 2 also.
I don't think any one knows the answer at this point. But I think it is better to mail applications until you see the bulletin (and dates go back). Nothing to loose except the courier fee. If USCIS want to return the applications so be it, at least you have a chance just in case they accept some (to some date).

You can be +ve if
1. If you ever had TB
2. If you ever had TB medication
3. If you ever had TB Vaccination
If you are +ve, you need to do chest x-ray to verify whether you have TB or not. Tell your doc for chest x-ray. For me, I knew I will be +ve and so I told my doc for x-ray at the first time and did not have skin test.
I Got Positive Skin Test. What Should I Do Now? Please Inform Me.

I Went to the Local USCIS center on 08/02/2010. IO mentioned that Name check and FBI check had cleared. But he could not tell if my case was assigned to an IO. He asked me to open an SR. I called the 1-800 number and opened an SR on 08/03/10. I got a standard email from USCIS for the SR I opened, on 08/11/2010. It said that my case and my wife's were both were under review and it would take up to 60 days for them to process it.
On 08/13/2010 8.03 CST, I got a SMS on my cell that My case status was updated. I had received that Card Production was ordered on 08/12/2010.
Now, I am waiting on my wife's approval.
