Chennai consulate sucks!!

Would anyone be able to advise if I can travel out of the country after I've filed the 485 if I have an approved I-797 approval notice (for H-1B) but old H-1B stamp in pp has already expired?
If I travel out and then get the H-1B visa stamp at an outside consulate, I would be able to travel back in, but would I have considered have abandoned the 485 application? (since I travelled out without a valid H-1B stamp in pp)??
Can I travel out even before my AP arrives? Or does having an AP make a difference? I would prefer to stay on H-1B status since you never know what happens to the 140/485 application.

Some of the feedback we got when we met our legislators here in Dallas was, when ever we send letters of these kinds they get much more attention when
1) The letter has a personal story in it
2) Letter is hand written
If the letter is hand written and has a personal story in it (along with the IV agenda) then it's likely that some one will read it. On the other hand if it's just a printed copy of a standard letter then it's just going to get tossed into a bin.

Today I and my wife had an infopass appointment and were told that our I485 case is in Adjudication review and should expect an interview soon. I asked the officer is there anything wrong and he replied back that everything is fine. I am not sure what adjudication review is and why there is an interview if everything is fine :confused:
We also opened SR on 9/1/2010 and I got the response today for the SR request and it has the following details
"Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter." Does this mean that we will not get the GC atleast in the next 60 days?
Did anyone had an interview before or anyone know what should we expect in the interview.

I have both I-94 attached to passport and also I-94 along with current I-797. I still confused which one to use?
Technicaly you should possess only one I-94. So when USCIS asks for a copy you should submit only the latest. If you submit extra copies you will create more confusion why you possess more than one I-94. My advice just send them the one that is valid and latest. USCIS can determine you live in this country legally from your records including ur passport, I-797, I-20 past EADS etc.

This is what I did -
1. Had my lawyer followup with consulate -they respond quickly to that.
2. Letter from congressman - congressman called consulate and i got a written reply from congressman on status in less than a week
3. Email followup with consulate
4. Calls to DOS - have to be on hold for a bit though..
Interview - Jan 3; 221g (pink) Phd in bio; additional info submitted - Jan 7th; consulate sent info to DOS - Jan 14th; DOS clearance - Jan 31st. Visa issued - Feb 6th...

At first, I thought my friend was just scaring me by suggesting the senator/congressman route, but seeing your case now I feel foolish as I should've been doing this in early January. I will check my status tomorrow (monday) with the Delhi consulate once more, and then, if need be (fingers crossed), will talk to my boss in Houston about your suggestions regarding congressman's letter. By the way, what if I call DOS tomorrow and they say the I've been cleared, would it still make sense to have congressman approach them? Too many questions, I know, but I guess you know this feeling. This Visa Bulletin is expected to retrogress many of the categories that were announced as being "Current" for July. It is expected that at least some of the categories will become completely "unavailable." The reason for this is that the USCIS apparently engaged in extraordinary efforts to approve cases in June, once there was some forward movement of the Visa Bulletin. They did this to try to avoid the tide of cases expected in July. Each green card approval uses one visa number. If the numbers are all used for the year, then the DOS will issue a revised Visa Bulletin reflecting "unavailable" in the particular category or categories.

While there is no 100 percent assurance about this matter, we at the Murthy Law Firm were given a 95-98 percent confirmation of the expectation regarding the Visa Bulletin by a very reliable source. I do not know how many times this topic was discussed accorss various boards. Because of INA and amended provision in Ac21 act, all the unused visas from Eb1 goes to EB2 and if anything leftover in Eb2 goes to EB3. This is the law. This hurts badly EB3, as demand in EB2 is so high to consume the all the avialable Eb2 numbers. Moreover, country quota is not applied in each employment based preferece catagories seperatly /exclusivly, if the demand in each catagory is less than the supply. So, most of EB2 numbers consumed by India and China as worldwide demand for EB2 is very less than supply. There is no confussion in it. This is the law. Though it is unfair to very old EB3 folks (in their view) One cannot do anything to change it. unless congress rips of the AC21 provission by passing new law.
It is difficult to accept that a EB3 guy in 2001 pd stll waiting and 2006 guy gets gc. But this is what law is, USCIS/DOS can't do anything. If we talk unfairness, there are tons in US immigration. For example, a nobal prize winner gets GC in EB1 catagory has to wait 5 years to become citizen. However, if a stripper marries a US citizen has to wait only 3 years to become a citizen and there is no numarical limitations for a spouse of US citizen become LPR. How fare it is?...

IF they were PD's we shouldnot be seeing anything after Jul 2007 [as those were the farthest PD's ever reached].
Seems logical, but on the other hand if that were to be the case, then why isn't there a spike in June-July '07 to reflect the deluge of 485 filings?
