Hi Friends,
Myself and spouse got the GC last month (09/05/2009) and my kid's case was still pending. Today I received CPO mail for my kid.
My kid's RD is July 2, 2007 and ND is November 19, 2007. Actually my kid's 485 was rejected and then reapplied during July 2007 due to old fee and new fee confusion, though I have provided actual fee. That's the reason for my kid's ND was nearly 5 months apart from the RD.
Here is what I did:
Took couple of infopass and numerous calls to Customer Service. Nothing did work properly... Getting same old replies - like, need to wait for 3 months etc... And last time when I took infopass, I requested the IO to expedite the process as this is a small kid's case and more over parents 485 approved. So IO got convinced somehow and expedited the case. After two weeks, got the magic mail.
Best of luck who are still waiting...

Just because some one said, VDLRAO predicts right, he has become a Psycic Guru here. Please stop this. Every one keeps saying , he predicts everything right. Did he predict, EB2 with PD2006 will be processed before EB2 with PD 2003. Come on Guys, Give me a break and stop this rubbish. What did he predict and on what basis. Many folks on this forum are so excited that consulting companies are going to be affected by this bill. Many FTEs think they are safe and consulting companies going out of business will help them get their GCs faster. Wait and watch, such bills typically affects direct hiring companies more than consulting companies in the end.
Remember who is proposing these bills. Durbin and gang. Do you think they are trying to liberate the employees from the clutches of "bad" employers. I don't think so.
Many IV members has started seeing this anti-H1B bill as CIR 2009.

We need stories of doctors, scientists, engineers (the success of NASA) who were immigrants and benefited this country. First, don't panic :) I doubt there's anything we can do about it at this stage. I'm in exactly the same situation (interview at the Delhi consulate on the 22nd, response - administrative processing, and the consular officer had told me that I'd get it in a week).
According to my lawyer, our cases have been sent to Washington for security clearence. And based on the feedback she has been getting, it is taking about a month. The embassy cannot issue our visas till they hear back from Washington.
So I realize that it totally _SUX_ but there's nothing we can do about it. So just chill and wait..

in my case i got no slip..whenever i call consulate new delhi they say still under admin processing ?? my lawyer checked with DOS..DOS had sent approval on jan 25th..still under proc at embassy !!
NOT SURE WHY ?? this delay is ??
i maybe forgetting..but which consulate did you go to and if new delhi then what was the description(looks) of the VO ?

It's tough to tell. According to processing times on usics.gov, I-90 takes 3.5 months in Nebraska service center. But the form is supposed to be mailed to Phoenix and I could not find any times for the Phoenix office. Since it's a simple correction, I'm hoping a 2-3 week turnaround time but be prepared for a 3+ month wait. If you need to travel, it's better to get an I-551 stamp in your passport so you can travel regardless.

I think if you have I-551 stamped on your passport then you do not need any other document. i-551 is as good as physical green-card. You can carry the approval notice with you. This is my opinion, do no quote on me.
Our cases were approved on Sep 21, 2010. Received approval notices on Sep 25, 2010. But did not get the Cards yet. I am planing to travel next week. So I went to local USCIS office and got the I-551 stamp on my passport. Can you guys suggest me what other documents I need to take along with me if I don't receive the cards by the time I leave. Also pls let me how long will it takes to receive the cards.

How to find out if you name check has been done/cleared.
Call USCIS customer service and insist that you want to speak to the immigration officer. Be persistent. IO will be able to tell you that. No need to waste time for Infopass.

I have a few theories on this. This is meant just to open discussion.
1) The USCIS and State department are not communicating at all. This is not at all uncommon within gov't agencies as we all know.
The State Dep't released the bulletin perhaps without realising the full ramifications. Having heard from the USCIS..........hey hey hey what the F&^% are you doing? They may have realised over the last few weeks what a mess they have on their hands. Now they are trying to undo it.
thats possible. I thought the Ombudsman also said something to this effect. that these three (DOL/USCIS/DOS) dont talk to each other as well as they should. Also, apparently visa dates are set by ONE person who does all the number crunching. that seems to be weird. There should be a more transparent mechanism of doing all this.
2) Another possibility I can think of, is that this is a grand plan(heck I almost said grand bargain) concocted by the USCIS to get 485s OUT of the system as much as possible while minimising those that can get IN. Hence you might see in the coming few weeks thousands of approval letters all dated the 2nd of July. That will allow them to clear their backlogs of pre-approved, approvable cases and clean the slate fresh for the new fees structure/new quota in the new year. Some of you might remember they retrogressed to unavailable around this time 2 yrs ago. They do these weird things in the 4th quarter.
the U two years ago was apparently because USCIS somehow used up more visas than they should, and ate up all the numbers from the next quarter. Apparently that was the only year they did not waste visa numbers.
I guess hte only reason they dont want applications IN the system is because it looks bad on them (# of backlog cases); otherwise whats the harm: take the file and stick it on a shelf. As the applicant keeps coming back for EAD/AP
keep milking them for money. win-win.
3) Of course the last option is their brains have the same IQ as that of any common critter that messes up your garden.
Pick your poison, it is all the same. I feel for everyone whose hopes were raised so high. It is truly inhumane of them. If they planned this, they should atleast have delayed the release of the July VB.
I would think its #1. The miscommunication across these govt. bodies. We pay the price, there will possibly be a lawsuit (which will be quickly settled) and some heads will roll.

If you want to make changes in the existing law, we have to do far more than a letter campaign. In the coming months, there maybe opportunities where we can try provisions and bills as we see any progress on immigration reform initiatives. Lobbying effort for big changes will have to be huge.
The most important work we can do at this time is to increase our numbers. We must get as many high skilled immigrants on H1B, EAD, F1, J1, H4 etc visas under Immigration voice. Once we have good support, we can try to work on various projects that helps everyone. We must try to spread the word about immigrationvoice on various forums, websites, communities etc and seek everyone's participation.
