Highly recommended especially, if your company pays for it (mine did not)!
I know lot of us have tough schedule but this bill will get rid of large pool-
I would think 30-35% - Why? Lets see EB1's are definitely out- Plus most EB2's (except Bachelors + 5 yrs exp guys) will be out.
Don't give me any Red dots over this- Just a humble opinion. So, lets says it gets rid of 30% in queue, it's as good as Increasing visas to 182K!

but even with this big announcement tomorrow, we still only have 140,000 visas and keep in mind USCIS has just been averaging about 100,000 per year. (so about 40,000 get wasted every year)
All all this does is to push the bottleneck further down the pipeline.

FYI, Jon Stewart had a piece on Lou Dobbs last night on the Daily Show (although I think this was a re run of a show last week).
In Stewart's clip, Dobbs claimed that there were 7000 cases of leprosy in the US in the last 3 years, mostly due to illegal immigrants. Stewart brought it to the audience's attention that this was completely false. In fact, there have been 7000 cases of leprousy in the US in the last *30* years, and no statistics have been kept on whether these were immigrants or us citizens.
Stewart also had a bit where he said "Buchananan ... hmmm, that's Irish, isn't it?" - a reference to the fact that Pat Buchanan, an outspoken xenophobe, is himself the descendent of formerly reviled immigrant group.

I don't think it is the CP filers' fault.
...
But, I agree that the requests by the original poster should not be a part of IV's letter campaign.
Everything else will then just follow...
And hopefully no more waiting for mid of the month bulletin updates :-) and years and years of restricted choices due to ongoing GC...

Well you might be the lucky few, but Discover mostly reject non PR folks. I know 4 guys..including me. But we cannot prove as they never give you a reason. Go figure.

however, I have some questions. You say that the officer told you that your AP was approved on Oct 1, 2007. Did you see a LUD change that day in your status. If you did, what did it say. I ask because I got a LUD change on our AP on Nov 2 but the message is still the same as it was when i got the receipt notice. No mention of AP approved.
My recetip date is August 14, and NOtice date is Oct 2, 2007. SO the TExas website states 3 months. Is it 3 months after notice date or receipt date.
I have heard people getting their AP without their online status being changed. Is this true. Anyhows, I have yet to go and do my finger prints. It is scheduled for Nov 21. Maybe they need to wait for finger print to before the AP is approved. or is this not the case.
Anyhows, comments are appreciated.

Now call your employer to refund all your money with interest and the loss that you incured for working all these years and the opportunity that you have lost for not filing I 485, else you would file a case agains him with police and FBI for taking cash as this would not provide any proof for filing labor and not filing I 485.

I am just confused that how they assigned 70K EB2 visas in 2008. Because EB2 share is
40k + 4k(EB1 left over)+? how many FB = 70k . So from above it looks like all FB leftover went to EB2.
Please clearify.

If case is denied due to USCIS error, MTR can be filed with out fee. when filing MTR it should clearly mention that " Service request for MTR" which implies that denails s due to erroneous decison. (Attorney filed this MTR with Subj: Service request for MTR, enclosed all documents which supports that decision is taken by error and to reconsider).

I have only 1 CG application and no question to interfile (read jealous:)), but after reading this thread, one my co-worker also from india asked this.
She is waiting for GC for more than 5 years, has 2 different I-140s. But should she go for interfilling? Let me ask this question to fellow sufferers.
Our company lawyer never answers question in details, and is not responding on this. She will have to send directly to USCIS in case...
First I-140 - Company A - EB3 - PD July 2003 - approved June 2007 - nothing further, she has the copy of I-140 approval notice though.
Second I-140 - Company B - EB2 - PD Jan 2006 - approved April 2007 - currently filed in july 07
Even after so much begging, the lawyer refused to entertain her and did not asked for PD transfer.
Her husband is working using EAD since last year, is not in H4 status anymore. This is why she is extremely cautious and not taking any chance with her pending I-485. (afraid to interfile all these days.)
What can she do now? I know her EB2 is current as if August 2008, so that is another factor to consider.

It would have been straight forward and she may have received the GC by now. I know, lawyers can make one's GC Journey much more harder than it should be.

As her EB2 PD is becoming current from Aug/08, she need not do anything now, maybe 4-5 months ago she should have done interfiling when EB2 started to come out of Unavailability. On Aug/1st, she can call USCIS and if they let her, open a Service Request on behalf of her case saying that her PD is current and her RD is July/07. There were times when I was really depressed, specially when I got delayed in New Delhi with "Name clearance" for H-1 renew. However, I believed in higher power and never lost hope. My parents (mother US citizen,father GC) always kept my spirits high. I also got a lot of support at my job (when I got stuck in India, my chief pulled all strings possible to get me cleared).
I also had a backup plan, where I could go to Canada or worst, can go back to India where I have an established practice.
Botomline, do not loose hope and work hard.
FIrst of all congratulations to get through this gutter. Though I have a question: Why did not you think of applying under F3 since your mother is already a US Citizen?

Your are thinking under two assumptions:
1. There is nothing left for innovation in the tech field. so no new job creation is expected in the future.
2. There will be more supply of tech workers which will surpass the job creation rate (if in any amount) thereby depressing the wages.
who is to know that your assumptions are correct? :confused:
Whereas the reality is the job creation has been exponentially growing because of emerging technologies and the will to immigrate to US is surely on decrease and add reverse brain drain to it. So for next 5-10 years it will become increasingly difficult to find talented people as they will be evaporated from the market because of 65K H1B cap for last 3 years and a huge outflux of talented professionals.
I said this before in my previous posts and i will say it again. I you are worth your salt and know what you are doing, you will be worth your weight in gold in coming years. Stick to the fight and get your GC. :cool:
(BTW, for these opinions, i am inspired by a recent book i read on globalization- The world is Flat by Thomas Friedman. I think it shall be a must read for every H1B to GC applicant)

With the current rate of outsourcing happening around in US and the rate of influx of temporary workers coming in on mostly L1 and may be few on H1 B Visas every year through the outsourcing companies , i am sceptical about the future of GC aspirants. With the way of GC processing happening which are caused by restrictions /policies of governing bodies and no sight of positive relief in near future i am little apprehensive about the future.
I feel that there might be no areas that are not impacted by Outsourcing boom . Most of the companies that i see and my friends work ,i see many of the operations are outsourced or planning in place to get outsourced.
with the current rate of outsourcing and subprime mess which may cause slow down in economy , i am not sure if there would be any positions to support our AOS , when our PD becomes current. Some times i think , the fight for GC is even worth it.
Every one feel free to post your views/opinions/Analysis on this topic ....

Members from NY/NJ/CT, please join the yahoo group. Murli and others are leading a strong campain. We need more support.
Always check with your state chapters.
State chapter leaders are more aware of our work than what we post on the forum for public.
There is lot of activity going on at this time. Everyone must join their state chapters to actively participate in IV effort.
There maybe some more news today. Hopefully... Stay tuned.
