Choose your pick fellow IVians,
On one hand we have Sen. McCain, guided by Sen. Martinez and the hispanic lobby on immigration reform favoring family based immigration applicants. Also Limbaugh and Hannity followers will be ready to demand their peice of meat after election and will go to any extent to protect the white character of middle America.
On the other hand we have Sen. Obama, guided by the man we love to hate Sen. Dick Durbin, who is ready to put on the squeeze of programs like H1B and the EB PR. Also the Dems as a political party are more interested in attracting new less educated immigrants to their side.
Our only saving grace Corporate America, right now is not neither enjoying any patronage nor any good reputation on Capital Hill.
Guess it is going to be a long wait for us 'Highly Skilled Legal Tax Paying Immigrants' before we are going to be embraced by the American dream.

yes, this is much more troubling than the gc delay. If the country sank, what's the point of getting its GC???

I had similar problem with United last year. I was flying thruogh Malaysian airlines and United charged me for extra 20 LBs. But it was checked in till India.
Both of the flights were on the same itinerary and were booked through Thai. United was asking for money for international part of the travel because he said that Thai would charge United for the extra weight if United checked in the luggage all the way to Bangkok, which isn't really true because Thai did allow 70 LB then. I am not sure what the regulation is now.
I think you are right that the guy was probably ignorant and didn't really care becasue I wasn't flying United after LA anyways.

I think we should use this opportunity to lobby Congress to pass Legislation to help legal immigration that are least controversial.
1. We should be able to file 485 independent of priority dates.
2. Exempt dependents from VISA cap.
In my opinion pursuing a lawsuit may not help us much.
We should raise money to pursue lobbying instead of the lawsuit.
IV should use this opportunity to reienforc the lobbying efforts and fund raising effors.
For my part, I will contribute individually and willing to particpate in any fund raising efforts in my area (North West Boston area).

Okay. Even if we send the AC21 letter to USCIS, whats the guarantee that they will take action or even read it. AC21 letter is not going to be a paid service and USCIS will treat this letter as any other letter like interfile letters. I am not sure whether USCIS has any specific PO Box for AC21 services. In my knowledge, there is none. I had sent my interfiling letter in early Oct 07 and there is no information from USCIS on this. Today, I went to meet an IO thru Infopass, the first layer of service lady was so rude that she did not even allow me to meet the actual IO. She said that this kind of information does not come on computer so IO would not be helpful. She was not at all listening to me. My point is can one make sure that his/her AC21 letter has been accepted and acted upon. If not, is there any need to send the AC21 letter?

Agree, she is just trying to cash on the momentum and probalby later claim credit if favorable changes are made. But , it should not bother us as it only going to help us and not hurt us.

I am on page with you. I did it 3 weeks back. Now I am starting the whole labor at the new company , making almost 140K (60% more) with a fortune 20 company . Good position and happier......
