War is in the northern and eastern provinces. Sinhala and Muslims were driven out of this area by the LTTE. Tamils live all over the country. Tamils lead regular life in other areas of the country that's not succumbed to the war, this includes the capital, colombo. They conduct business, attend universities/schools, they lead a regular life just like any other sinhala or muslims. Tamils lead prosperous lives in other parts than the north and east. The reason they can't live in the north or east is due to their own LTTE, the group that was supposed to liberate tamils.
If there's ethnic cleansing or genocide against tamils, Sinhala and muslim people should be killing tamils all over the country. This is not case in Sri Lanka. I have tamil friends and classmates, we went to school together. How come there are tamil ministers in the parliament. Lets see how a common member look at so called "GC Dream" and try to understand why there is no unity.
Is it what is called "Inspiration" which is missing? I guess so. Can we call it "Motivation"?
What else can we call that "thing" which stops us from uniting for a cause? "So far I am just "Encouraged" thats all, not inspired". Is this what it is? I do believe there is a huge difference in these 2 words.
Everyone in this community are Brave and Courageous.
Note: Do not jump on me asking What am I doing on all this. :) I think we just have to realize this to get a bigger perspective.

If people want to see success - they HAVE to be a part of it. The efforts of such organizations is not to make profits and then sell shares and perform well and then make people join it, it is to provide with a platform where people can help themselves.

We want to blame IV leaders saying they are rude and pushy. We come up with discussion threads saying we must do this we must do that and finally we see these discussions just getting buried. Again Not everyone does that
Good examples of how communities thrive anywhere in the world are the Jewish community and the Patel community. The only reason they have succeeded is because they believe in themselves and their cause - they are all over the world and are united, they have managed to make their lives easier by uniting for their causes. There is no question that unity is the key but not easy as the individual goals are different. Unity is not constant..people unite based on the issue and its effect on them. Once the issue for which they united is resolved or becomes one of less importance" they will choose to stay away. There are several examples in the history even revolutions and freedom strugles. Unity pervails until the comfort zone then it takes its direction.
Look at us - if green card is delayed - we say - I dont care about it, India is rising - but are we going there? No way - no one who says "India is rising" will go - in fat they will be the first to apply for any immigration benefit. Again this does not apply to everyone. Some may apply for immi benefit but nothing wrong in that and they take that concious decision on the situation that odds of getting GC in this life is near 0.
Why are we individually so highly skilled and intelligent and capable but collectively so naive? As important this issue is for you, is not as important to atlease some of the members in the community. But still they will do what ever they can for the community with out any "inconveniene". That does not make then in admisible in this community. Does it? If yes, then thats the number 1 block to cross towards unity
Why do we always want others to do it for us? is it because if there is any opposition the active ones will be affected and we can escape? is it cowardice that stops us from being united? Not necessarly. No one wants others to do anything for them. (Not the people who start new thread with action items for others and pop under the hood). How do we divide the labors for 2006, if we give 50% of them to EB2 I then I believe that by Sep 2010 year 2006 should get cleaned out. Another point is how the spillover is allocated quarterly, annually or randomly (How do we explain EB2I going back to 01 Jan 2000 and then recovering back). Definitely a quarterly spillover will make predictions & life easier! Something to factor is EB2-C, EB2-I date has almost caught up, traditionally it stays 1 yr behind (EB2-I lags EB2-C) in the early part of the year, this could be huge factor if both catch up.

You can renew your permanent resident card only if you lived in canada for atleast 2 years in 5 years. And to get the card, you need to get a guarantor signature who knows you for atleast 2 years e.g. a physician, attorney, etc

Why is this is a New Tune being sung suddenly? I mean i can see your point, but why this sudden introduction. So far IV was showing the lawmakers how good the Canadian/Australian system was. Now one of the super moderators is mentioning that despite all the exploitation the US system is better?

now that we have 13 pages of discussion ..can we agree on something and start small campaigns atleast ???
that way we can generate more interest in IV.
we can do something indirect too ..such as contacting your realtors ..show interest in buying and then back off ..the advantage in this (if large number of people take part and each contact 4-5 realtors) ..then we will have someone else lobbying for us (rather than ourselves beating our own drum)
if someone has better idea then we can go for that too

So if IV can use some of its massive clout to convince DOS to do a quarterly spill over, that would be win-win for all.

Reality is that you don't want to see Indians and Chinese around you. I am sure IV does not need people like you. IV does not promote nationality and we are against all the bad pracitices of the body shoppers but we don't want someone to label Indians and Chinese in this country product of bodyshopping immigration.
Most of the population are well educated , skilled professionals and labelling them that they are flooding the market is insulting. If you think that you don't have marketable skills and is difficult for you to play due to Indians and Chinese, please feel free not to come back to this website. Hi,
Here is the case : I'm working for company A since long and has an H1B valid till Mid 2010.
Company B has sponsored a GC for me. Its EB3 - India with PD Mid 2003 and I485 was filed on June 11 2007. Waiting for PD to be current.
EAD was applied on 06/27/08 and was approved yesterday for 2 years.
In this case,
1. Will be advisable to start working with sponsoring company B on EAD or continue with company A which is holding my H1 and where I'm right now ? Since there is no direct employment relation between applicant with company B, I think its better to join GC sponsoring company sooner than later. I was on Company B's payroll for 2 years in 2002-03
2. Will it be considered under AC21 ? Should USCIS be informed on that change ?
3. What will happen to my H1B status which is good and valid till mid 2010 ?
5 About dependants, my wife has applied EAD few months back and already started working with her approved EAD. My son is having H4 status.
Any issue for them if I use EAD and move to company B ?
4. In case I want to join some other company or start own business in near future, What will be the best step today in order to avoid any problems in GC process or after having GC ?

If the law is followed in the enforcement then that is fine. Integrity of H1b program will be maintained. If arbitary and against the law then that should not be followed.

Every response we give him makes him feel pleasure at our plight. To tell you the truth our plight is not bad. We just like to think it is. We have AC21 option. Remember when you could not file I485 how much you coveted that one option. If the employer withdraws I-140 and we have to file MTR so be it. People come out of it unscathed. It is still a low probability event. Take the bull by the horns and you will come out stronger. Even when you get your GC life's problems will not go away. We still have to fight for a better job, better pay, better quality of living and then we will not have the excuses we have now (Thats how Dilips of the USA are made).
