Helo all,
My mom had filed for an F2B category immigrant visa for me. Consequently, I attended an interview at the US consulate in Chennai, India and was given 221 (g) blue slip and asked to wait. When I contacted the embassy after 3 months I was asked to wait as my case is under administrative processing due to name check.
Any idea how long more I shud be waiting, andyone in the same boat

Receipting is not done by VO and the staff who do receipting follow certain procedures.
USCIS mailroom has certain protocols and thats why even our AC21 documentation does not reach file.
Files are distributed to different officers and they work on the files.
Without a receipt number you cannot track your MTR.
Talk to a very good Attorney on further course of action.
I filed MTR - my 485 was denied because the officer ignored the AC21 job change. When I called customer service and explained - I was transferred to a VO and when I explained it, she requested me to file an appeal so that I don't have to pay instead f MTR.
When I talked to Attorney - she said "Don't do that - when your MTR gets receipted, you can track it but cannot track an appeal"
Remember MTR = if USCIS makes a mistake - MTR costs $$
Appeal = if you want AAO to consider various factors on a correctly interpreted denial and appeal to see if you can convince.
Does this mean that an MTR filed without the filing fee is automatically considered an appeal?

You did not read it carefully. The person actually NOTIFIED the USCIS about AC21. However, USCIS failed to record it.
That's was his/her problem. If the person have not notified the USCIS about the job change, everything would've been fine :) I am not going to argue with you. If one of hundreds thousand cases had an issue, it does not mean we have to rush and file AC21 every time we change a job. That will just create more work for the USCIS and increase our chances for RFE/denials. That's my opinion. You are entitled to yours. BTW, I changed jobs and did not file anything. No problems.

No matter how bad an employer is, one should inform before quiting...atleast one day in advance!

He sent me an email to pay $3500, do you think he will go legal for this, I did not sign any contract with him.
If he goes to court will i loose(he may create documents) or will i be in trouble if he wins the case.

You are missing it again. What is a driver license for ? Drivers license is a drivers license. It is a verification whether one has the driving skills and knowledge to drive safely on the road.
What has it got to do with job or immigration status ?
Well, for one, a driver's license is the most commonly accepted proof of identity. It's not just about driving skills. The procedures for it's issuance affect the security of the country. Sorry, I think it is you who are missing the point.

The only leeway USCIS has w.r.t EADs are the duration of the EADs and not the timing of the issue of the EAD. The fact that the EAD can be given only after the I485 is filed is governed by the INA.
Further the grant of EADs in all the eligible categories is more or less the same. Even if the timing of the grant of the EAD were in USCIS hands ,it is hard to request an alternative interpretation of the regulation in some cases (eg after I-140) while retaining the same interpretation for other categories (eg EAD after completion of Education). This just opens up a lot of loopholes.
ON top of all this we have to take into consideration the huge inherent inertia of the USCIS to change. As already pointed out the only recourse available would be to change the law of the land, on which path we are already traversing.

there should be a cap on how many H1's a MNC that's not based in US can apply. ex: companies(like wipro, infosys, satyam..)
for ex: it should be <= 300 per company.
These people consume lot of H1's when they could get their employee's on L1.

I ask because I got a LUD change on our AP on Nov 2 but the message is still the same as it was when i got the receipt notice. No mention of AP approved.

Filed at NSC on July 2nd 2007. Got EAD/AP approval notices and receipts/transfer notices from CSC last week. No FP notice yet.
There are several in my company in the same situation..NSC->CSC and now CSC Xfr'd back to NSC. No one has rcvd FP notice. I think August 17th filers at NSC are ahead of us now and we are at the tail of the queue one more time.
The only advantage of CSC transfer is if you need EAD/AP desperately. if you don't then it's just bad luck.

NKR, not sure if you heard about this one proverb... "jabh kismath GA***U hai tow kya karey ga PANDU"....we unfortunately get trapped with such type of employers who trouble their employees and learn lessons in hard way and looks like you haven't encountered any such experiences with your employer, if that's the case you are lucky enough & I wish you would NEVER fall into such employers hand who trouble for so many other different reasons....or not sure you should have one small experience and see how you feel just for the heck of it....
