Same situation here too. My husband came to this country in 1999. Filed for greencard in 2004. Labor was sent to philly BEC and it got cleared in September 2007 so we too missed the window too. Not sure what to do

For those of you celebrating the defeat of Democrats because they sabotaged CIR due to the "path to citizenship" it's time to get real. Conservatives (both Dems and Repubs) are more than comfortable shutting the door to ALL immigrants. Don't fall into the trap of anti-immigrant legislators, don't let them turn this into a wedge issue.
Turning on the undocumented is not what we want to show to the outside, it is a losing proposition and will turn off the public.
As to what to do now, I'm puzzled. CIR is effectively dead in the US House, probably the Senate as well. The voters said loud and clear this week that they want the focus to be on JOBS not anything else like grandiose immigration legislation.
What to do now? Looks like another 2 years tacked on to the wait from my perspective :/

Maybe he can look into sub classificastion, H4A for one and H4B for another.

Quebec is a bit more conservative than Ontario (mostly coz of Catholic influences). Montreal is a fine place and one would be able to get along without knowing too much French (anywhere else in QC it's a different story). If you have long term plans for Canada, it's a good thing to know French.. as bi-lingual folks are given preference is many jobs (even outside QC). Montreal has an image of not being friendly to non french speaking folks - hence many who migrate to Canada end up in Toronto. So that may be a competitive advantage for someone moving to Montreal!

I think we should dedicate one day on leaving messages at his show. Lets make it a saturday/sunday. All the members can leave messages, asking him to be fair.
I know a lot of ppl will come back saying its of no use blah blah............
whole idea is to try. If ppl only get motivated by results, then there is no point trying at all...........
My experience is sending messages to the person whom we are going to target won't help. We need to counter attack using a different and equally powerful channel. The negative comments we post on Lou Dobbs and CNN are never posted or maybe never read to the end.

It is best to wait for USCIS to announce this. If this is going to be true, then lots of people who had the hopes of applying for their I140 is just gone.

If you were July/Aug filer, it does not matter even if it is not cleared...

Anil,
Yes the notice (I was mentioning) and the receipt number are the same. If you apply for MTR and you receive the SRC number you can continue to work. If the decision is positive your case will be put back to pending status else you need to get back to your lawyer to determine the future course of action.

Yes the notice (I was mentioning) and the receipt number are the same. If you apply for MTR and you receive the SRC number you can continue to work. I got my GC after 6 years of application and 10 years arrival. Initially the GC was not a goal, probably a mistake.Later on it felt like it was hampering my dreams. With the passage of some more time, realized that dreams were not really dependent on the GC, but it was a nice crutch. Getting the GC does bring about some stability brought about by the job flexibility, but the lack of one did not prevent me from changing jobs, marrying, having kids, buying a home, or searching for better opportunities. I really can't say, I lost a good opportunity because I did not have a GC, but I did use it as an excuse.
Nevertheless, not a look a gift horse in the mouth, the GC was a much awaited event and milestone. I am now officially an immigrant, and I did open a champagne bottle on that day and have a dinner out with the family.
- Any advice for everyone?
It is easy to give this, since it would no longer apply to me, nevertheless, I would advice one to plan one's life without the feeling of entitlement and the understanding that the GC in itself will not change your life by a whole lot(it will have a lot of impact for some, but on average, lives for most will go on) . So don't fret, fume or drown in sorrow, it will happen in time, with a constant plod towards the goal.

All the people who crib about red dots: There is nothing IV can do about it.
This is a feature of the forum software.If some one uses foul language in forum posts then admins can warn them or block them. It is not possible if they do it in comments.
Actuallly, I suggest IV kickout anyone who cribs about red dots or that someone is using foul language in PMs/comments.
Keep the eye on the ball guys. If you see all the bullshit the IV admins bare with some other guy showing up every few weeks asking questions as if IV Core is getting rich off of the contributions. And some other guy shows up with a great plan (no sarcasm intended) asking CORE to make his thread sticky instead of keeping the thread on top by bumping it every few hours or so.Then when the core doesn't respond to their idea/request to make the thread sticky start abusing them. They take all that in stride and still continue to pour their hearts into something they believe in.
Now here are people so worried that they got a red dot and need the grievance be addressed. If not they will be afraid to post. If all it takes some one to stop you from posting your ideas is to give a red dot, how can any progress be made?

They do not accept Indian 3 yr bachelors & 2/3years of Masters + 5 years for EB2. This has been discussed lot of times. They expect single 4 year degree.
15yrs of education(India Bachelors) + 5 or more years of education for EB3 is accepted if certain qualifiers are included in the Labor.
Just take care if you are dealing with attorney who saying above thing.

I know many of my friends who have Indian 3 yr bachelors & 2/3years of Masters + 5 years experience post education applied in EB2 and got I-140 approved and many of them got their GC too.
