Yes, a new passport ( from one of the US embassies in India). I don't think it is a new PIO card, but the new passport number will be 'annotated' in the Passport ( Indian embassies in US charge $20 for that ).

Is your lawyer frogamn from CA? Did they infom you about Rfe if not how did you get the Rfe mail.

Please don't travel thru countries that impose this ridiculous transit Visa requirement on individuals, especially from India. Ask them to justify the charges, and you would get no response from them.
So, even if takes to spend $200 - 300 more, AVOID these crook countries that charge Transit Visa. People we must send the message across. In this century, I think its Indians that are traveling the most on these trans-atlantic-asia route, and collectively avoiding these 'snob' countries would send a very good signal.
If you are buying the transit visa, your dignity is at stake. Its like saying buying insurance for a person who is poor. They dont charge for countries that are more developed. so, AVOID AVOID these countries.

In your case, you have the birth certificate, so you don't need to submit the non-availability certificate. It is better you contact your municipal office and apply for your birth certificate with your mother's name included.

I filed I-765 in January and got 1-year EAD last week. I called USCIS today and explained the error. It took a while to explain this to agent but he got it that this is a renewal application on the basis of pending I-485 without available visa number.
He filed service request for the error. As far as he knew, USCIS will send another EAD and send further instruction about 1-year EAD.
I filed EAD/AP together but the EAD I got is not a "Combo Card" (USCIS Term for combined EAD/AP)
I shall keep you posted.

You may be right. But with your logic all these talk about opening an SR, getting an infopass and blah blah is not right then. We have polls here on what worked....that's what i was telling it is too much of a coincidence. Opening an SR won't make a sick IO healthy and come back to work..taking an infopass won't bring a dropped out file back in the pile...talking to senators and congressman are useless anyways....
So bottomline is all this talk about what works or not is a pure guess and nothing else....USCIS has always been a black box and will always be..

Admin fix was the wrong thing to do anyways, else your Obama will create 101 rules that affect everyone, the check and balance system is a good thing for US
Admin fix should happen for small regulations not a big law like the CIR.
If administrative fix was the wrong way to go, then we are back to legislative fixes - and as I said earlier, boils down to meeting with lawmakers for us; and having the strength to meet with the media and push them to bring our issue to the forefront. I got a letter from IRS stating they have notified the employer to send the corrected W-2. I should be waiting two weeks before the due date and then use Form 4852 to report the correct wages. This has become a stress for no-fault of ours. If the employer provides us a corrected W-2 after we file our taxes and if the figures don't match then we should amend our taxes using 1040X. I am sure the employer will wait till the last date or near to due date to give us a corrected W-2. This is a real pain in the a$$.

I was just thinking if it would help to gain more publicity if this site goes by a different name. On several instances while calling lawmakers or other people, the moment I mention immigrationvoice.org they think it is related to Illegal immigration / CIR etc. I need to stress that it is about legal immigration.

A VERY IMPORTANT ASSET... it would be tough to transfer all the name recognition to a new name.

Receipts can give you sense of security in terms of your application but for those without H1 or L1 and expecting EAD, EAD can give them job and earnings.
I must agree - both are important..it is just each one of us have different cases and circumstances.

Don't need to get excited. Nothing has changed.. Its again depend on you if you want to file and get it rejected and then be a part of law suit or if you just want to wait till Oct. But so far all these are rumers. and good roumers never become true..

I would really appreciate everyone's honest opinions on this matter.
We filed 140 and 485 concurrently in July 2007, EB3. As of now there is no word on either application. Previously we had also obtained Canadian PR, the 3 year grace period of which will expire this August.
Not only am I faced with a decision of staying in the US or going to Canada, but my future career is on the line too. This year I will be 23. After taking my undergrad degree in electrical engineering, I have been accepted into Boston University Law School in the US as well as the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law in Canada. Canadian lawyers make around half as much as American ones after all factors are considered.
In your opinion, should I stay in the US, going to law school, in hopes that the green card will come through, or should I pursue a new life in Canada, but take the lower future salary / international renown?
This issue is currently causing much discord in my family. I hope to hear your frank opinion so that I won't take my decision lightly.
